Giveaway Day!

Welcome to my Sew Mama Sew! Giveaway!

And my little corner of the internet where I mainly blog about quilting. From time to time, I blog about other things like hooking (the crochet kind), knitting, sewing objects that aren't quilts, homebrewing, Mi Galego Obstinado (aka my American husband of Galician (Spain) descent who also home brews and is learning to sew and I swear will never finish collecting graduate degrees), and my pets.

But in the end, it's all about the quilting. I don't really consider myself a traditional quilter though I'm the most recent quilter in my family, but I don't consider myself a modern quilter either. I really just do what works for me:

I often piece by hand...
Broken Dishes

I mainly quilt by hand...
CharlieBrown.Front.Full
CharlieBrown.Back.Full

And I make this block (tutorial here)...
Origami Pinwheel

Alot...
Origami Pinwheel Quilt Top - Full

Which leads me to my little giveaway...

Today I'm giving away FOUR Charm Packs of Sherbert Pips.

Giveaway Photo

I have found that charm packs are a great way to make the Origami Pinwheel Quilt above fairly quickly with about 2 yards of background fabric and minimal hand sewing.

My momma and I are still working out the best way to quilt the top above, so please check back later this summer when I will have two examples -- one from me doing my own thing with hand-quilting, and one from my momma who will quilt it on her long arm (once she gets it set back up after moving this weekend).

To enter this giveaway, leave a comment below (by Thursday, May 26 at 8am CDT and I will ship internationally) and tell me what project you have been wanting to tackle.

My momma really wants to see what I could do with a double-wedding ring given what she says is my distinct aesthetic in comparison to other quilts in our family. That and she says it's about time I make one --as a right of passage.

Whereas I'm wanting to tackle a whole cloth quilt (which she is also excited about). I have been sketching designs for close to a year. I am now at the point that I need to not only finish up the quilting on my large standing frame but I also need to finish the large stack of baby, wedding, and graduation gifts. I'm hoping that in July I can get the fabric onto the frame, the threads ordered and the design drafted onto the fabric with my trusty no. 2 pencil.

Oh and if you already are a follower or become one, let me know via comment for an extra entry.

Good luck to everyone who enters! And thank you for visiting me :)

  179. Hi and thanks for the giveaway!
I want to start the Spectrum Quilt from Anna Maria Horner's book Handmade Beginnings. I have never made a quilt before and thought that might be a good place to start. I am slowly building up the materials to make it and hope to start soon! Wish me luck!
